Community Witness

I am paying attention.  This Chinese Elder from Toisan was attacked on Market Street in San Francisco.  She was punched in the face and she fought back.  The assailant also attacked a Vietnamese Elder before.  Anti-Asian Violence is not new, but the current media spotlight is.  They say that one of the two White assailants was under attack before.  He seems homeless and possibly mentally ill.

Although I was traumatized, I noticed the mural of George Floyd in the background and it gave me hope.

The trial of the Officer Chauvin began this week.  I just read the community testimonies in the New York Times.  All of the community members who came forward to bear witness, expressed a sense responsibility for George Floyd's life.  Everyone from the cashier who called in the counterfeit $20, to the liquor store manager who wished that he had been there to mitigate it, from the 9 year old girl wearing a Love sweater and the Martial Artist standing by, filming and calling for them to stop with increasing alarm, to the paramedic who could not revive him.  Every one of them heard George Floyd call for his mom and saw Officer Chauvin extinguish his life, while his colleagues stood idly by.  Young Witnesses Offer Emotional Testimony in Chauvin Trial
