600 Year Time Capsule near Namsan Botanical Garden (남산 야외식물원)

I wanted to see the Namsan Botanical Garden, but we ended walking around the perimeter with other folksters.  Older people are quite fit here in Korea, ranging in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond, along with blind people walking along the raised median and couples progressing with one limping or moving slower than the other --arm and arm.  Regardless everyone is walking in the right hand side, forward and back.

Dave wanted to see the Hanok Village (which will be the next post --or previous depending on how you read this ;) and we came across a 600 year Time Capsule from the 600 year anniversary of the establishment of Seoul.  It was dedicated in 1994 and contains 600 items from the time.  As of this year 2023, it should be opened in 401 years.

Mayors from various cities throughout the world --Mexico City, Bogota, Paris, Honolulu, San Francisco and so forth-- sent their well wishes to Seoul.  It's impressive.

It's just fascinating to think on a scale of 1200 years.  I wonder what is in the capsule.  Could their be CDs and Discman players, Digital Cameras and who knows?  Incidentally, my family was in Seoul around that time in 1992(?).

My mom came to study at Yonsei University for a year. Then my Dad, my brother and I came to visit, sight see and hike the mountain of Saraksan.  That was about 30 years ago.  A blip in the Korean timeline and a sizable chunk of my life at this moment. Amazing.

Lazlo wanted see the Archery range beside the Namsan path.  Inside there was a timeline, which began in 1632.  It was in Korean.  Ironically, I only got a picture of Siena with the arrows.  Lazlo has been interested in Archery, since his friend Auben has a nerf set at home.

We saw a bunny on the path as well.  This photo is blurry, but it was very cute. Tokki (토끼). We considered it good luck, since it is the year of the Rabbit 2023.

This is us on the daily subway, which is super clean, efficient and intricate.
